Everyone asks, nobody can place it
It smells like me, just richer and more expensive. People stop me to ask and I never give it up. That's the whole point.

N°01 · DÉSIR
Fifteen years, and it had never happened once.
A Thursday, a bookshop, nothing about the evening asking to be remembered. A woman I had never met put a hand on my arm before she had finished deciding to, and said she was sorry, she had to know what that was.
Fifteen years of wearing perfume and not one stranger had ever needed to know. And in the half second before I answered, I found out something I am still a little embarrassed by. I did not want to tell her.
The part that is hers
There is a thing women do with a scent they love and never talk about doing. Somebody asks. And instead of giving the name, she says something else. She smiles, she says thank you, she changes the subject.
There is a small silence that happens after somebody asks. She is deciding, and she has already decided. She says thank you, she says something about the room being warm, and the name stays exactly where it is.
The question is the proof. Keeping the answer is the part that is actually yours.
"Wore it to a wedding and lost count of the 'what are you wearing' moments. My husband would not stop leaning into my neck."
Chloé T., Lyon
A jammy blackcurrant sparkle on the way in, the kind that brings a head up across a room. Then a quietly boozy amber, warm the way a room is warm after the second drink. And underneath, once somebody is close, the part that does the damage: a dark vanilla gone thick and almost molten, powder-soft over the top, that stops smelling like perfume and starts smelling like warm skin, richer. Sweet on the way in. Grown up underneath. Never dessert. And on you the amber runs warmer or drier, the vanilla creamier or darker, so an hour in it is a version nobody else is wearing. That is the part nobody can place, and the part she keeps to herself.
It smells like me, just richer and more expensive. People stop me to ask and I never give it up. That's the whole point.
I'm not a "signature scent" person and this became my signature in one night. Boozy, warm, addictive from the first drop.
Why it took fifteen years
I used to think the silence was about me. That I was the kind of woman other people simply did not comment on, and that I had been buying my way out of it, one bottle at a time, for years.
Then somebody explained the part nobody at a counter ever says. A spray throws most of what you paid for into the air, onto a coat, onto a scarf by the door. What actually reaches the person standing next to you is whatever survived the walk. A stranger will not cross a room for whatever survived the walk.
Désir is not sprayed. It is an extrait, the richest, most concentrated tier a house makes, so it comes in drops instead of a mist. Two at the pulse, and all of it stays on the one warm surface that walks into the room with you. That is the two feet where somebody finally has to ask.

The honest part
This is the one thing nobody can hand you through a screen, so here is the honest version.
Two drops on the inside of a wrist sit on skin that moves all day. Reach for a glass, push your hair back, hold your phone to your ear, and it comes back up at you. It is on skin, so it keeps being warmed, and warmth is what lifts a scent off you.
What you get at your own wrist is not what somebody beside you gets. They meet it across a table, on the way past your shoulder, in the second before a hug.
And one thing we will not pretend. You cannot know how it lands on you from a photograph of a bottle. That is what the thirty nights are for.
"Warm skin, a little boozy, completely addictive. It's the first perfume that makes me turn my own head. I catch myself at my wrist all day."
Sofia M., New York
